Goodbye society, you suck.

I am a giving person in a world full of takers, I can't take it anymore, 
and no one gives a shit.

I have spent a lot of time recently trying to get matrix-DFS into some sort of
shape so that I could pass it on to other devlopers. Due to circumstances beyond
my control, I spent several months sitting in a corner doing a lot of hard
thinking, some of it about matrix-DFS. When I was able to control my
circumstances more (coz the junkie moved out), I spent every waking moment
trying to get as much as possible down in english or Java. Feral programming at
it's best.

The World's Greatest Programmer is retiring undefeated, but I am leaving this
behind as my legacy. It is a barely started world stopper, rather pathetic in
it's current state. While society was constantly dumping on me, I was always
planning on sitting down and writing lots of really great software to help
society. Naturally, I never had the time or resources to do much. What I really
needed was someone to protect me from society while I wrote world changing
software. What I got was two and a half decades of writing commercial crap, coz
that's all anybody would ever support me to write. It payed the bills, but left
me with no time to do anything.

docs/TODO.shtml explains a bit about the current state of this software. I had all
sorts of radical plans for what to include in matrix-DFS, not all of them are
documented here. The most stable part is BPC_NO, an extremely robust login
client for Big Pond Cable that has had years of testing on my own server, and
years of use out in the real world by real users. It is the only part that ever
saw wide release. The version here has been tweaked only slightly, and only in
unimportant areas. Earlier incarnations of Skang are currently being used on a
few servers out there as web applets.

I have been trying to get this thing into some sort of releasable state while my
life has been falling down around me. The latest, just days before I was due to
be evicted, is problems with Jabber rosters. Six other Jabber clients where
downloaded to use for setting up things and checking them so that I could test
roster and subscription code. Not one of them could be convinced to work well on
SuSE 6.4. My best bet was to upgrade Qt and compile konverse. Did that, konverse
still can't find my updated Qt, and the update broke PPP somehow, so I can't go
out and download more stuff to fix it. The only Jabber client that would at
least run here seems to have broken my Jabber server.

I now have no working Internet connection, and in a few days all my stuff will
be sitting in a big pile in front of what used to be my home, while I start
hitch hiking to a warmer part of Australia. All that I can do now is to write
docs and non network code. I doubt if I will have any place to plug my computer
into after I get evicted, so development will stop then. Maybe the World's
Second Greatest Programmer can finish it for me B-).

matrix-DFS was supposed to be a team effort, but everybody else was too busy
writing commercial crap to pay the bills to actually get around to more than
just some basic planning. Since I got the job of head programmer anyway, it was
certainly my job to get the code started and I have done that.

I will try to get some more of my radical ideas written down while I am still
able to, but we are talking over two decades of radical ideas to get through. My
ideas, while radical, are all quite sound and workable, I have proven that over
and over again. They can greatly increase the speed and quality of development.
Off course, I was never allowed to use my radical methods while working for a
living.

Eccentric geniuses like myself tend to be the ones that advance society the
most, usually because we come up with the most radical yet workable ideas.
Society has a tendancy to treat us like shit though. Society spends most of its
efforts making money go around, while only paying lip service to the real
problems. I hate money. I am happiest when I have none, or when I have so much
that I don't have to worry about it. Evil is the root of all money B-). I have
lived with a stupid, self-destructive herion junkie, and she reminds me a lot of
the stupid, self-destructive money junkie that is our global civilization.

If society actually wants me to do them some good, instead of the usual shit I
had to put up with, they can find me somewhere in the middle of the Australian
outback eating feral animals and berries. I will only come back under MY terms! 
Send a great looking unshaved woman with tiny tits and long hair, then I may pay 
attention B-).
